A couple of random pictures

This is a picture of a plant hanger that Nellie made in her shop class. It hasn't been painted yet, but it's very nice . . . I think it may be my Mother's Day gift :)
Here's a picture of Miss Bailee the Pet Rescue Gal. Doesn't she look official?

Our Finished Master Bathroom - a couple of months late

Our bathroom was officially finished the day before Thanksgiving, but once the holidays hit, I guess I forgot to follow up with posting pictures of the finished product, so here they are. The counter tops, sinks and shower are corian and of course the tile floor. I'm so glad that I chose not to have carpet in the bathroom anymore.
The tile around the tub is the same as the floor but it was cut into 1/4's
In case you can't tell our bedroom is done in an African theme (a few pictures below) so we carried that theme throughout the bathroom as well.

You can't really tell here but our shower door is 3/8 inch thick which is very heavy (Travis put wood behind the wall to support the weight of the shower door) and has the "rain" finish so we don't play "show and tell".

A couple of years ago while on my "girls shopping trip" I saw this duvet cover and decided right then and there that I was going to redo my bedroom with some of the "treasures" that Tyson brought home from his mission in Africa. My husband thought I was going too far at first but eventually jumped on the bandwagon and now enjoys the finished product - especially since there are so many memories there from Tyson's mission.
These are actual spears and masks from Africa
I loved this carving and the canvas is so much the same that I had to put it up as well. Lee built me some frames to mount the canvas' on.
I found this lamp and couldn't resist . . . so many fun places to display things. The top 3 shelves have things from Africa on them but the bottom one is an elephant that Emilee made in a HS art class.
Here's another canvas . . . looks like I should have cleaned off Lee's dresser before taking this picture.

putting things back together

By the time I got home from Nellie's basketball game, all of this was done - thank HEAVENS! It would have been a very cold night the way it was :)
Doesn't all this "fresh/new" wood look so much nicer? One step at a time I know it will all be put back together and look nice a new.

Maybe a little bit worse than we thought "~

Well we certainly don't have to worry about that little hole that Lee poked through the siding from the bathroom anymore do we?
You can tell exactly where the bathtub was - all the water damage was above the tub from the window that was there down. But not to worry, in a while (hopefully not TOO long) we'll have all new framing, siding, and all ")
This is looking out from the bathroom - see Travis' truck in the driveway? That insulation in his truck is going in my bathroom. Hopefully more pictures later . . . better ones :). This is a little depressing - BUT that's why we're doing it, right? Travis (jokingly) suggested just putting in a large window with a walk in shower :) . . . Ummmm, NO!!

Let's Go To The Movies - Let's Go To The Show . .

So Grandpa Soptich decided to have a movie date today, since it's Martin Luther King Day and all, debuting "Horton Hears a Who". Jen and co. came over for the festivities and even Uncle Scott popped in for a while. Before the movie was over I had to run Nellie into the orthodontist, but Grandpa finished with the roasting of marshmallows out in the back yard - s'mores you know ;).
You HAVE to have a blanket during movie time :)
Uncle Chad came too - oh wait - I forgot, he was still there from the night before!!! He slept right there by the fireplace with the TV on ALL NIGHT LONG.
T E E N A G E R S - ya gotta love 'em!

Yuck!

This bathroom window wall had the most damage - it was rotten clear through the siding . . . See the hole that Lee poked through it to show how bad it was?
yep!
The faucet wall only had a little bit of dry rot
This back wall wasn't bad at all
