What a thrill it was to go out to the garden, pick beans, and then can them (16 pints). I also picked some blackberries so I could make some triple berry jam (strawberries, raspberries and blackberries). I love doing all this - it just takes time and that's always something I seem to come up short on - so for now, I'll enjoy this accomplishment for today. We've got tomatoes and zucchini's coming out our ears if any one's interested. Lee wants to try making salsa - we'll see how that turns out ")Tuesday, August 11, 2009
Beans and Berries - the fruits of our labors
What a thrill it was to go out to the garden, pick beans, and then can them (16 pints). I also picked some blackberries so I could make some triple berry jam (strawberries, raspberries and blackberries). Wow, I wish our beans would have produced more. I would love to have home-canned green beans. I'm trying to get geared up for canning pears and blackberry jam this year.
